Sketch Saturday # 35

Hi,
Sorry I didn't get chance to post this yesterday as promised, but MIL and FIL came round to see us and then they took us out to tea at a local restaurant !! Result! Didn't have to make tea- and no work, so a rare night away from cooking for me, Yee-haa !!
Well here it is, the card I was supposed to post for the Sketch Saturday challenge #35, I really enjoyed using this sketch. Made with BG ambrosia papers (I'm really into orange at the mo, can you tell ?!)

stamped with Sugar Nellie 'Leanne Ellis' stamp, isn't she lovely ?? (I feel a tune coming on... Good job you can't hear what I sing/type...) and coloured with water colour pencils. I've even tried to decorate the inside and back a little bit !! *short time delay* but now the blog thing won't let me add the piccies!! AAAARGH !!!! never mind not that interesting anyway.

Hope you all have a good weekend,

Hugs, Sarah-Jane xx

Birthday Box

Morning everyone,
As promised here is the special pop box card (not sure what to call it!) Box came from craftwork cards. I made it for my friend who's birthday it is today. Luckily she doesn't know my blog address, as she hasn't had it yet !!

I am really pleased with how this all worked out in the end- just hope she likes it !!
It was quite time consuming but well worth it for a special person (may make one for Zoe's birthday in March ??!)

Papers used were Paper Mania "Sweet Nothings" Pad. I love this pad and have used it loads - I'll be sorry when it runs out (soon) which is unusual as I normally get bored once I've made a couple of cards with a pad. Anyway I digress... The cupcake in the middle is a Sizzix die cut which I mounted on a piece of acetate cut from packaging as is a bit thicker than normal to make a pop up, wobbly cake. Topping cut from same paper, Cherry on cup cake and candles on side cake coated in Glossy Accents (not that it really shows), Die cut shapes on the sides were from a card making kit a friend gave me last year, as were the gems and stars on the bottom of the box. On the top of the box I used SU! Circle of friendship stamp, mounted on a paper flower from stash, which I inked in the same colour as I stamped in.

Note to Steph-- Yes we are!!! Soooo Excited!!!!

Thanks for looking and have a good day,

Sarah-Jane xx

A Little bit of Happiness

Hi to all,
This morning I have just finished putting together a set of 5 note cards made using the (as the title suggests!!) "Little bit of Happiness" set which is a free Level 1 Hostess Set. I will say though I nearly froze to death just taking these 3 pictures!!! It is bitter here ! Anyway I have set myself the task, if you like, of using some of the many, many paper pads up which I have accumulated...
The papers I have used here are from an old pad by DCWV called "Teen Prints" But although old I have only just bought them -in a sale bin at my local(ish) craft shop for a bargain price of just £1 !! (Hence too many paper pads...)

Card base is a 4x6 card from stash, coloured card from Paper Mill Shop, edged with Fiskars Threading Water Punch, Images by SU! coloured with water colour pencils, Sentiment "Circle of Friendship" by SU! and punched out with their punches (such good quality).

Thanks for stopping by, and let me know what you think- I love to read your comments, Hoping to be back soon with a special card for a friends birthday- just needs a little more tweaking !

Wedding Card

Morning All ,
Hope you are all having a good day, Well the weather here has FINALLY stopped raining, thank God, It's been a long weekend of bored kids and moans about the dreaded homework... We did have some good news though -- We got our youngest into the school we wanted, which is on the same site as the older two, but not in our catchment !! Woo Hoo !! I also have some news about me that I will share with you all a bit later on when I have some more info on it !!

Anyway on with the card I made this weekend. It is a card for a friend of mine for a wedding but it needed to be big so 40 or so people could sign it, so I have made it from a piece white pearlescent A4 card folded in half, then printed the sentiment straight onto the card (can't seem to print onto velum without it bleeding)

Then die cut the large wedding cake by Sizzix in more white card and the trims in core'dinatons card the same as the top panel. I then put the cake and panel in the d'vine swirl cuttlebug folder and through the cuttlebug. I then sanded the top panel a little, tied on the ribbon, layered the cake on oval nesties and added a little bit of Glamour Dust to the trims on the cake (not that it showing here!)

Inside I just put a little verse so there is still plenty of room for everone to write in.

Let me know what you think, Thanks for stopping by,

Sarah-Jane xx

Candy alert !

Just to let you know that Steph has a very generous Blog Candy on offer, Thanks Steph. She has some lovely work to admire whilst you are over there too !!!

Baby card

Well I did manage to finish the baby card although I'm not sure if it's O.K. or not, just doesn't feel finished to me !? Well they do say we are our own worst critics don't they !! Have seen a lot of these style cards around, (think they were for a challenge but unfortunately I can't remember which one, if anybody knows could they message me and I can put a link on, Cheers.) but mine doesn't open out, just the note lifts out instead. Overall I like the style of this card as I think it makes a nice change from the norm.

The paper is by DCWV, ribbon from stash as are the sequins and safety pin, Metal quote on note says"Children are life's little treasures" and is by Making Memories. The font I have used is a free one I found called Zachary and is a great one for kids and baby cards.

Thanks for looking and I hope it's warmer wherever you are than it is here today, that wind is icy !! At least it stopped raining though. Have a good weekend,

Sarah-Jane xx

Free set !

Hi All,
An easy card today which is for my sister to give to her boyfriend, who doesn't know about my blog (hopefully!) so it will still be a surprise. It is a valentines card which I made with my FREE set from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue. The set I chose is called Polka dot punches.
I stamped the Heart image twice then used Heat and Stick powder to add glitter to the second Heart, unfortunately it doesn't show very well in the picture, I then cut it out and layered it onto the first heart with foam pads.

Used my small circle punch to cut corners and SU! sentiment too. (I'm loving stampin up if you hadn't noticed !!), charm from stash as are ribbon and fibres, card blank by craftwork cards. Stamped inside card with same stamp and loads of love sentiment from "Loads of Love set"

Thanks for stopping by, Back tomorrow with a baby card I will (hopefully) finish today,

Weekend works

Hi,
Here are another couple of cards which I made this weekend.
The first is a Pink Petticoat one which are very popular with the Ladies at Hubby's work, Made with paper mania paper, sentiment from craftwork cards, frame cut with my new Sizzix frame (is a christmas one but I missed out the holly at the bottom of die) but it cuts through card as it's a thick die.
The second is made from a card base from craftwork cards and was surprisingly quick to make, just a few eyelets and some sequins, folded, patterned velum. Epoxy tags by Making Memories.

Thanks for dropping by, Please feel free to leave a comment if you like.

Monday Again !!

Morning all !!

Don't know about you but I can't beleive it's Monday again !!! Weekends just aren't long enough! Well I have managed to make a few cards this week but I'll just put a couple on today..

The first is a cards my mum asked me to make for her sister in law, who's birthday is in a couple of weeks, but she has to post it to U.S.A. so needed it sooner rather than later. I saw this tutorial here ages ago but kept putting it off as it looked a bit complicated, but really it wasn't and I think it looks really effective. I will be making lots more of these in the future!

Here it is open.

Here it is closed !!

I used a set I've had for a while now and not used before (shock, horror!) by doodlebug and I paper pieced the flowers with BG euphoria on the main tag andwater colour penciled the flowers along the front. Sentiment from SU! Punched with my new circle punches which came this morning, Thanks Jules x I hope you like x

Next card I have to show is a boys one for hubby to take to work, always struggle with these, but this is the woodware stamp set again and with K&co papers, Rub on sentiment.

Thanks for looking,

Sarah-Jane xx

Wedding Acceptance Cards

Morning all,

As promised, if a little late, here are the wedding acceptance cards I finished off last nite, Of course I then had to pop out to the pub to meet the girls so she had them straight away !!
I "cased" the layout idea from here as I was looking to contact spellbinders, this lady is on their design team, have a look round her blog while you are ther, she does some fantastic stuff !!

Right back to the cards, first is a pic of all 3 together
Then a close up of one so you can see the detail.

The finished size ended up being about 10.5cm x 15cm. I used cream pearlescent card (which was nightmare to get through printer!) and die cut an orange pearlescent card to layer up the topper with my fave new toy, the labels one nestie. The colours of pearlescent card I had dictated the colour scheme for the cards, as there was no specific request. Stamp by Autumn Leaves, stamped with pumpkin pie SU ink (thank goodness i got the stampin spots) heat embossed with clear/holographic powder. I could have done with some pumkin pie ribbon to match but had to make do with what you see, don't think it came out too bad tho ? Pearl slider came from lakeland an age ago.

Thanks for looking

Last card today,

Nice quick one , card blank from craftwork cards, paper basic grey (again!) Image from a set by Inkadoo, Labels one nesties, rest from stash.Have a good day.
